Shopee Indonesia to Strictly Enforce Hazardous Goods Declaration Compliance Rules Starting September 21, 2026

As of September 11, Shopee Indonesia will fully tighten compliance requirements for the declaration of hazardous goods including liquids, batteries, pressurized gases, magnets, explosive and flammable materials, effective September 21, 2026. Under the new rules, sellers who list prohibited products without submitting the required declarations will have 1 to 2 penalty points deducted within 7 days and the relevant product listings removed; in serious cases, 3 to 6 points will be deducted, and sellers will face account restrictions or even permanent bans. For non-hazardous items that are incorrectly flagged as hazardous by the system, sellers are required to select the corresponding option from "No" / "Contains batteries, magnets, liquids, flammable materials" and submit an appeal. In addition, the platform will later roll out a tiered A/B/C risk classification feature, requiring sellers to accurately report the hazard attributes of their products to avoid cascading risks such as being unable to submit return or exchange claims, and accumulating additional penalty points.
