Amazon Opens Paid Same-Day Delivery Program Enrollment to FBA Sellers

Amazon's Same-Day Delivery (SSD) service currently operates dedicated fulfillment centers across 2,300 metropolitan areas. Eligible products can reach consumers as fast as 2 to 5 hours after an order is placed. Previously, the platform automatically screened qualified products to be included in the delivery network at no extra cost to sellers. However, according to foreign media reports, Amazon has recently rolled out an updated policy, inviting FBA sellers to pay to add more products to the program.

Under the new policy, Amazon will charge fees per unit for products actually delivered via SSD based on the seller's bid. Participation is voluntary, and the total deductions will not exceed the per-unit price set by the seller. Data provided by the platform to sellers shows that products in the SSD network see a 12% higher sales volume in regions covered by the program compared to standard FBA delivery.

Additionally, the platform's notice states that products previously automatically included in the delivery network based on supply and demand signals will retain their eligibility for free and will not be affected by the new policy.

When sharing the invitation notice on social media, some sellers noted that Amazon already charges consumers, including Prime members, for express delivery fees (in addition to Prime membership fees, Amazon launched 1-hour and 3-hour express delivery options for consumers in March 2026), and this new policy is equivalent to having sellers share the cost as well. Still, sellers acknowledge the program's role in boosting sales.
