Walmart Launches 30-Minute Delivery Service in 33 U.S. Markets

On May 29, Walmart announced the official launch of its 'Delivery in 30 Minutes or Less' service for Walmart+ members in 33 U.S. markets. The service covers over 100,000 items, including fresh groceries, daily essentials, baby products, electronics, and prescription drugs. It is currently available in cities such as Austin, Dallas, Chicago, and Atlanta. Eligible order pages will display the 'Delivery in 30 Minutes or Less' option, with Walmart+ members paying an additional $10 delivery fee per order. Industry observers believe this move signifies a further escalation in competition between Walmart and Amazon in the instant retail space. Previously, Amazon has launched 30-minute delivery services in select cities, with a $3.99 delivery fee for Prime members. Walmart stated that its ultra-fast delivery capability primarily relies on its extensive store network across the U.S., proximity advantages for fulfillment, and intelligent dispatch algorithms. Data shows that in Q1 2026, Walmart had already completed millions of 30-minute delivery orders in over 19,000 ZIP code areas, with approximately 26% of its rapid delivery orders currently achieving 30-minute delivery.
